Thinking about training after reading different posts and thinking back to my training and racing over the past couple years....A lot of people think "THE race...THE event" is the hardest part. One thing has always struck me at the end of the season. The training, was the ultimate ultra. Whether you be training for a 5k PR or a 100 miler...the week after week, run after run of highs and lows, strength, weakness, aches and pains....no aid stations, no applause, no medal. The training has always been for me far more demanding than any ultra I have completed. So be confident in your training. Take pride in what you are accomplishing, day after day...week after week. You are completing one hell of a long ultra. THE race is the icing. Be proud of the training....that is the really freaking hard part ;)

By the way, you need a new pair of "thinking" glasses!!!
Hardest part is always getting to the start line! Also, sometimes it is hard for people to develop goals because they do not think they are 'competitive' or they are 'good enough' to have goals. Goals drive the day to day, which is the ultimate reward.
As I say in TCI, discipline is the ultimate form of athletic performance.
