A little bit about me.

I am 43years old and live in Nottingham UK ,originally from Scotland I moved south for work and liked it so much i stayed met a good woman and set up home here.  I've been running for about 3 years , I started out just running round a local park with some friends and to be honest it was a real struggle for me,I had been weight training at the gym and thought this was fitness, until I tried running. Trying to run a mile without stopping was tough but I stuck at it ,from that we progressed to 3 miles and started adding miles every couple of weeks . We decided to  enter our first half marathon(The Robin Hood Half Marathon UK which we both finished in 2:06:36, we both got personal bests this year 1:42:30) from then the bug just caught , it was a case of how much can we improve on our time?.

I have been lucky to have a running partner who is willing to be dragged along in my enthusiasm for running , tabbbata sprints , interval training, hill runs are all met with a shrug and lets get it done attitude so big thanks  to Nick Hill.

Earlier this year we both ran out first marathon (finished in 3:58 ), this was probably the best feeling I have had in regards to running  , but I want a little bit more , I want to push myself as hard as I can , so I am entering into my first ultra in june 2014, (68 miles!),  I have already started training for this , after reading the cool impossible I have decided to start the strength training with the slant board ,stability board etc. So from next week its more training and more running , that should keep the beloved happy.

If anyone has any tips on training for an ultra I'm happy to listen, so wishing everyone a happy 2014.
