Why I didn't follow the 'rules' today...

My friends will say I'm crazy, I say crazy good :-). Why? cause I could finally run in the snow, while it is snowing!
Too bad it's not snowing more around here.... A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to run in this amazing powdery snow, and blue skies.
But today I had the full experience!  I couldn't wait for the late afternoon to get out. I was watching the snow falling and accumulating since mid morning and as soon as the clock hit 4:30 pm, I dropped the mouse, put on my running shoes and head out! That fresh amazing white snow, I just couldn't get enough of it. Today was supposed to be a day off or an easy short recovery run (I'm on week 4), but the few times I did look at the watch,as I was busy looking around at the snow falling and how quiet and beautiful it all looked, I was probably in HRZ3-4 and a higher pace than I'm supposed to. But I didn't care, today was all about FUN run!! This is why I run!! With a huge smile throughout the whole run, snow falling on my face, feeling and hearing the snow under my feet, it was just too good to be true. Oh and yes, I think my feet and legs 'appreciated' the soft ground, and totally cooperated with my 'craziness'.
Yes, I gave in to the need/wish to go faster, cause it was a FUN RUundefinedN!!

Thoughts of a Run Form newbie...

On Monday afternoon I went for a run, after getting some pointers from Eric during the group chat (which was great!). I was focused, my mind working probably harder than my legs and feet on run form, visualizing and feeling (trying to at least) based on Eric's guidelines (hopefully I was doing something right). It felt amazing. But than I thought, it was too good to be true. So this afternoon I went for another 'run form' run. Though it was hot and humid, I felt good! again! I run 2 miles focused (with a 'stop' after one mile for a minute of 'marching'), until I reached my hill (need to do hill work...).
I used to go out for a run to clear my head, now my head is so busy with run form (and my cool impossible), that nothing from my crazy day at work can even sneak in...- perfect!!
Here are two thoughts that I'd love to get some feedback from those of you who are more experienced in run form...
1 - making an effort not to hear my feet 'slapping' the ground as I run...
2 - trying to keep my feet parallel and aligned with my hips instead of having one in front of the other when hitting the ground, kind of keeping each feet in a straight line when running (similar to running in place I guess) - does that makes sense? It feels like it allows my feet to hit the ground forefoot to heel better, I think....
Thanks in advance.
