What I just thought about while reading your post (for about the 4th time!) is I need to focus on the thrill of the ride between the bar and the platform. Even though I wasn't able to attempt my CI this year, I had a blast getting there. It's just really tough to wrap my head around choosing something that's not logical (well... my definition of logical- I am a high school math teacher!) I also need to carve time out of my day to spend time just thinking about my CI(s) for 2014. Like almost meditating on it. I like your visual of the room and hopes, dreams, fears dangling from the ceiling. I'm working on it. Thanks for your encouragement!
I have LOVED reading this thread!! Rich- you are fast! And you go, Lori! Awesome CI's!!! I'm jealous that you've been able to nail them down. The end of Lori's last post says it all for me... I have to let go. I'm teary-eyed even typing that. Stupid, I know... but the idea of letting go terrifies me! And I don't know why since, like Lori said, "You can’t know the outcome, but grab the bar or fall….it doesn’t matter, either way you will land safely. It’s all about the space between the platform and the bar… so jump!" Stupid brain!! Gets in the way all the time!
Lori I think these are ace..... "AND top 10 femal finish at Cayuga 50 mile USATF championships in June...AND if I am in the 6% that gets selected from the Western States Lottery, a top 5 age division finish, AND Speedgoat finish, AND Tor Des Geants finish top 10 female if I get in, if not Tahoe 200 with a top 5 female finish. Lori’s Grand Damn Slam! Ha!"
Hey Lori how about a 2014 "1 mile test time challenge" - I'm currently somewhere in the 5s - so we could challenge each other to the best time in 2014 or we could challenge each other to the most improved 1 mile test time in 2014? What do you think? Mybe Eric would like to join in as well?
Ok, so that’s not all. I’m lovin’ where this is headed! Alright boys and girls, here it is…..What do I WANT 2014 to look like? Yes, “5” as the first number in my 1 mile test….AND top 10 femal finish at Cayuga 50 mile USATF championships in June...AND if I am in the 6% that gets selected from the Western States Lottery, a top 5 age division finish, AND Speedgoat finish, AND Tor Des Geants finish top 10 female if I get in, if not Tahoe 200 with a top 5 female finish. Lori’s Grand Damn Slam! Ha!
How the hell did I come up with that? And what the hell makes me think that it might even be possible? Some ego she’s got eh? Nope. The exact opposite will have to be true.. It will ONLY be possible if I lose the ego. I don’t exactly understand that concept myself but I’m gonna have to learn it this year. “let go of what you THINK you can do and grab hold of what you WANT to do”... I told Karen Blackert that as I read her thoughts considering her own cool impossible. I could hear myself in her writing thinking the same thoughts, following the same path. The safe road when trying to formulate my CI, “what’s the next step based on my performance last year?”, “What is the natural progression?”, “What SHOULD my next cool impossible be?”. and my response to her, I only realized today is my response to myself….let loose of what you THINK you can do and grab hold of what you WANT to do. Stand on that weaving 12 inch podium...remember the one? The one that’s 50 feet up,the one you climbed when you were 15 at summer camp, that one-swaying, the trapeze just a little to far to reach out and grab..you have to JUMP to get it. You have to let go of the ropes that are securely tied to your waist and jump. You can’t know the outcome, but grab the bar or fall….it doesn’t matter, either way you will land safely. It’s all about the space between the platform and the bar… so jump!
13.1 miles in 1:24:29 @Rich Warne! For 2014 I "see" a 5 as the first number on my 1 mile test.....more visions for 2014 to come very soon! ;)
