Skyrunning Race Series and You?

The Skyrunning Series was just announce and I am planning to attend a few of these races in the US and potentially one International race, and thought it would be fun to get a group of you to show up and race together as an informal team.

These are great races and very popular in Europe and they are finally coming BACK to the USA in 2014.  They are very unique, offer…

that long road....

I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. Impossible is nothing.

Eight years ago, I "rebooted" my life by starting to run.

I lost weight (went from 235 lbs down to 176 lbs) and dramatically changed my diet. At 48 years old, I have climbed Mt Whitney twice, biked hundred of miles and ran 3 marathons, several 5ks, half marathons and to date, two 50Ks.

But my nutrition would always get in the way of my performance. Either I'd bonk, or I'd get sick. My last 50k was an embarrassing DNF. I started to…

Third week of strength training - a bit disapointed

Thought this was going well... Took a short run before my first day of excercise this week. Ok, no probs. Felt good, working on my transition from mid to forefoot. Slant board excercises next. Next day I was feeling sore in the flexor hallucis longus. Damn, and I think I'm taking it slow. Also a bit sore in my right shoulder, so I'll take a break from upper body excercises this week. Just to cool it down a bit. Did my slant board excercises again today. Feeling better in my calves. Have to… Continue

Ready to go

Tools are ready (half of them home made). I already did the slant board excercises one week combined with 5 minutes running in place barefoot, so calf muscles are "slightly" sore ..tried the swissball excercises today, kind of tough of couple of them. Anyway Geneva, Switzerland joined the cool impossible…

Second week of strength training - confident that this is the right path

Ok, so I've finished my second week of strength training. Still working out at a total of 4 days this week of training (2 days with the slant board feet/lower body excercises and 2 days with the fitball upper body excercises. Alternating feet/upper body/rest/feet/upper body/rest, eeh, you know the drill). And wow, I can already feel the power of the excercises. They seem so naive and simple in the book, but the slant board really does it.

So, I'm heading into third week,…
