I started following Eric's training plans last fall and was able to complete my first race two weeks ago. Being able to complete the training and the race injury-free was a big milestone for me. I chronicled my journey leading up to the race and then the race day itself on my blog: http://goathunter.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/siskiyou-outback-15k-part-i/
Eric, thanks for showing us a better…

Finding it hard to get back into the swing of things after shoulder surgery...any suggestions with Houston 2013 breathing down my neck and 100+ temps until October?

Ok, so I was nervous about today. 30 miles at Ouachita trail. 7,000 feet of elevation gain. Last long trail run before Leadville. I was reminded that the last time I did this trail I ended up out for a little over a week with hip/knee problems. NOt to mention this partidular course intimidates me. Not to mention I knew it was going to get to 105 degrees. Not to mention I've never done that many miles out there. So here's what I did with that....I "embraced" all those feelings and…

After my failed attempt in April I finally found the guts to try again, this time with a better understanding of what it takes to run so far.
This time it was a 70km trail run through the forest out onto the coast through beautiful country. The day was perfect, light rain as we hit the start line and then clearing up during the day.
This time I had no watch on and just decided to run by feel. Sometimes I feel like the watch stresses me and I keep looking at the time and heart…

Dear Running with Eric Tribe -
I’m writing with exciting news about a project I’ve been working on for the last year and a half.
You guys all know my philosophy that the best runners are the best athletes. To that end, my training has always been about more than miles - I teach that ultimate running is training, technique and proper nutrition, resulting in an all-around athlete who is a natural runner.
However,…

Hi everyone,
just joined the site and look forward to learning more about barefoot training and running in general.
I train once a week with a group and coach, barefoot we do 100 ups and similar drills then some running drills which has been good fun(sort of) and we finish off with some stretching. I'm trying to do at least 2 more runs per week and am trying to get it up to 3 per week to build up some k's, those runs are an interval run and longer distance with a fast finish.…

One quite nice running experience this week - yesterday I decided (sort of spur of the moment) to take a run out early this morning. I wanted to go along the first section of last week's route to one of the nearby beaches in time to catch the sunrise, again in the kind of vein of 'something to do and running is how I'm going to get there'.
It meant leaving the house at around 3.30am (after only eventually getting to bed at around 11.30), fuelled up by some wicked-strong coffee and a…

I think it's been a pretty good week for my running this last week. I managed to give myself a couple of days' rest (in the face of some suprisingly tough temptation) after the last blog post and felt good for it, so that the regular 10k run home felt a lot fresher than it has before - both in terms of fitness and attitude. Maybe there is something to the whole mental and physical rest idea :)
Mid-week a friend of mine suggested visiting one of the beaches a little further up…

This running malarkey is getting larger claws into me and I feel like I need to maybe be careful about what I'm trying to do - in the last few days I've run 10k up a 629-foot hill and back down again because I was bored between work and going out for drinks, then the same route again just to show my friend the view, then 15k along god-knows-how-many hills to get to the next town over to go for a cheeseburger (the shop was closed), then another quick jaunt around town tonight to work out a…
