Lori's Green Smoothie Recipe

Made my first "green smoothie" this morning- it was actually purplish-black due to blueberries. As I and the blender are humming along my 10 year old Ethan walks past, "mom, that looks like death".

Soooo, here's what's in the "death smoothie" - quite tasty actually and of course my response to Ethan, "oh honey it's life!"

2 bananas

bunch of frozen blueberries

several leaves of kale

1tsp wheat grass powder

2 tbsp hemp seed hearts

1-2 ish cups of water

Blend the hell out of it and drink!

recipe from www.thebestofraw.com

BTW I opted for the Oster Bee Hive blender- WAY cheaper than the big guys and did a smashing job!

Pumpernickel and Ezekiel are good options and as long as I don't eat much they don't spike my sugar, was curious about a recipe I found for "oopsies". I made them last night...they are...meh.

Lori, If you are looking for a low glycemic bread, try Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted whole grain products: http://www.foodforlife.com/about_us/ezekiel-49

Lori have you tried pumpernickel as far as I know it's free of sugar, wheat & yeast. It has, to me, the texture of a grainy cake thought its thin and rectangular. The tast is one of those acquired things but I don't find it disagreeable but my wife & son love it.

Hi all hope your first detox day went well. For breakfast I had fruit salad & white coffee, Banana for mid morning snack, lunch tin tuna, & Green salad, afternoon snack Banana & macadamia nuts & for dinner I'll have Thai beef salad & a soda water.
Good luck everyone.

Hi Eric, yesterday I was in the supermarket for almost 2hrs trying to educate myself & I was looking at sports drinks. As part of my "education" I came across coconut water. I was looking for a sports drink as I'm back working in Queensland & the humidity is very high at the moment. So to answer your question, I was looking at coconut water from a sports drink perspective but wondered about the sugar. Is it processed or natural as the product information is ambiguous saying "no added sugar, all natural.
Thanks for your reply & interest
Robert

breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 bacon and coffee with cream. Great satiating breakfast...this works well for me as a pre long run meal and post early morning breakfast. Being diabetic I avoid flour as readily as I avoid sugar....trying out a flourless bread option...will let you know how it tastes! I have found it impossible to find bread without sugar...and well... unheard of without some sort of flour.

Hey Robert - what is the purpose of the drink in general?  Before a run, during/after?  Or just enjoyment?

I think Coconut water in general is a great natural sports drink and i will use it sometimes in our summer after a long run.

Coconut Water V Sports Drink
Today I read the ingredients of coconut water and I was amazed. This product had the electrolyte profile of the sports drink, slightly higher Potasium & Sodium & less than half the sugar.
Now here's the rub, we know the sugar in the sports drink is processed, but the coconut water? It says "no added sugar, all natural"
Any thought guys, it sound too good to be true, has anyone else used this product. Any advice would be great.
