I'm just about to start Week 5 of Phase 2, but I just thought I'd comment about the hardest workout I've had so far, Phase 2, Week 3, Day 2.

I've never had a problem in the past 15 weeks in regards to hitting speed zones or heart rate zones, but this work out was extremely hard.

Out of the attempted 8 sets of Speed Zone 7 for 2 minutes, only one of the sets had an average in the desired zone of 5.23min/mile - 5.33min/mile(3.21min/km - 3.27min/km).

I was extremely disappointed with my inability to not hit my zones, and just hope that the attempt to hit the zones has moved me towards completing some hard work outs that are planned for this week.

I was wondering if others had experienced something similar for this work out, or any other particularly hard work outs in the program.

Shayne one run, training session, race or even week, good or bad, does not make the runner. This is supposed to be difficult, testing, sometimes what we learn from our percieved failures is more important to our journey than our successes. What did you learn and how can you use it in the future.

Great reply Robert. And I will add that you might just have been tired that day or low on fuel.  You are in week 3 of a tough phase, so you might need more fuel, OR you might look back and see if you ran some of your easy recovery runs a bit harder than they should have been.  This might have caused some fatigue in the legs?

But again, just one run, sounds like you are doing great.  Keep us posted.
