Hi Eric, thank you for the reply.
After I posted my comment it struck me that the wrist strap HR numbers, though not perfect will vary if taken from the start of the run but I wanted to read your answer before replying.
I'll be heading out for a 20km run in 30 minutes or so and I'm going to do a little test. I will record my warm up separately form the main session to see what the affect is on my HR numbers.
Hey Robert - glad you liked this one.
Keep in mind this avg/max HR is for the one mile test, not daily runs.
Sorry if it was confusing.
Hi Eric, just an amazing episode today the message, the scenery is spectacular and I just love the way the light enhances the colours.
Your insights regarding the differential between your average HR and your Max HR got me wondering about my recorded HR numbers. I take note of my average HR all the time but don't worry to much about my maximum or minimum HR.
As a result I have gone back and looked at my last 6 months of data extracting the average and maximum HR numbers from all of my runs over that period and I was astounded.
From my data the average differential between the recorded average and maximum HR was 36.3 BPM not the 4 to 6 or even the 8 to 10! you mention in the video.
Obviously this differential is due to the fact I use the wrist HR monitor on my Suunto 9 and not a chest strap and I have to say I was taken aback by the inaccuracy of the data, I'll will be purchasing a chest strap HR monitor asap.
When running, the whole run is recorded, WU and MS but I don't record my CD however I do watch my HR as it falls noting the time it takes to return to pre-run levels.
So my question is should I be recording my WU separately to the main session for the day or will using the chest strap allow for the warm up and rising HR.
Thanks In advance and thanks for the amazing video!
