Heel Strike and Hoka: Bad Karma for Knees

Here is a great piece on Tony with a great message. There is also a great shot of the detrimental effects his of heel striking with a high profile cushy shoe like the Hoka (no wonder he has his knees taped).
To see this GO to the 2:13 time on the video and watch the guy with the big hair, wearing the Buff emerge in the center of the screen as he runs towards you. Watch very closely to his biomechanics, specifically how his knees jet out to the side on each "crash" landing stride. Watch it over and over to really see it and add your comments.

It looks like all of the runners feet that we can see at 2:16 are heel striking, but only this one guy's knees are going out.  He is running on a slope, but probably is like that on flat too, guessing from the tape.  Me - I am already a convert to forefoot strike.  It just feels so wonderful compared to the heel strike.  For the first year the first mile of each run would feel wrong I and I would have doubts, but I was in shoes that gave me no choice and by the second mile my doubts would be gone.  This happened to me a lot the first year.

Overall this is a nice inspiring video about mountain running.  It really conveys a cool feeling.

No, I am not referring to Anton, as he is not the runner at 2:13 wearing Hokas.  Sorry to confuse.

His shoe sponsor, New Balance, will be really upset IF indeed he is wearing Hokas...are we certain he's wearing Hokas??
