The Born2run website only recently provided an option to buy a Slant Disk and Stability Disk in a new bundle called The CI Board Bundle. Earlier packages included ski poles and DVD which I could not afford and didn't think I needed. Living in India, the international shipping charges also were too high. In fact, the shipping may have turned out higher than the cost of the package itself.

I was keen to start with the Slant Board strength exercises recommended by Eric. So, I had to do some Jugaad (Jugaad is a widely used Indian term meaning innovation. Indians are famous for their ability to do Jugaad). Most South Indian homes have a Wooden flat board (called mane in South India) that is used to sit on the floor. I found a rectangular block of solid teak wood lying around and I was able to replace the slant board by just placing the mane on the rectangular block of wood. Since I live on a farm, we have plenty of PVC pipes lying around for our water lines. I just found two waste pieces and these are my substitutes for the Ski Poles.

Few pictures are attached for reference. I have kept a regular pen on the equipment so you can get a feel for the sizes of these wooden blocks. All Indians should be able to use this to comfortably replace the Slant Disk recommended by Eric.

First, a picture of my wooden Mane.

Next, my Rectangular Block

Putting the Mane and the Block together, I have my Slant Disk. Easy Jugaad

Having started on my program, I have actually ordered the Board Bundle last week and a friend of mine is visiting from California in late June. So, I will have the original Slant Disk and Stability disk in about a month. I just wanted to ensure that I get started with the strength exercises using Slant Board as recommended in #CI.

International brands like Reebok have plenty of stores in India. So I purchased a Fitball quite easily. For those who are wondering :-)

Crew Race is on August 14 and the La Ultra event begins 17th. I am getting comfortable with Slant Disk Stability and Movement routines. I have got up to 1+ minute. Will bring the stability disk routines in a couple of weeks.
