Hello again! My apologies for the long delay in sharing my continued experiences with the Foundation Program.
Like I mentioned in the previous post, I took a 4 day break from the program and revisited Week 7 again. I am happy to report that I managed to stick to the recommended program for Weeks 7-10 without much difficulty. I did experience a little calf soreness in Week 9 and 10 after my long run on Sunday. So I did not do the first optional run of the week; basically took 2 days off after my long run and felt quite fine.
Now, the exciting bit...
I have been pretty busy at work trying to get some things wrapped up before I head out to my CI of 2014. I have been following Eric's program for about 3 months and certainly feel that it has helped me improve my form. I have also moved completely into minimalist shoes. This transition accounted for some slow progress in the beginning.
Tomorrow, yes...TOMORROW, I head out to Leh (India) and join the rest of the team at the La Ultra 2014 (Details at thehigh.in). I have volunteered to be a crew member and will be part of a team trying to get a runner to complete a 333 KM run in 72 hours in High Altitude. I have myself never experience high-altitude like this, so I am hoping that it goes well. I will spend about 8 days acclimatising before the big run starts on August 17. In a way, I feel like I am emulating Eric, who worked to get Chris McDougall across the finish line!
