I propose we name April 1st "St. Caballo Day"!

It's the day most of us found out, it's a worthy memorial, and....well he's no saint and would laugh at the idea, as well as the fact that it's on April Fool's day. Light-hearted but heart felt. I think he'd approve.

He passed away while running, just like he would have wanted.  Sad but inspirational.

May his authenticity and inspiration of “truth, peace, beauty and love” echo through the canyons and continue to be carried across the world on our steps... "run free" Caballo!

Rest in peace Caballo Blanco. You touched a lot of lives. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Such a heartbreaking loss.  I never met him but I felt like I got a glimpse of his spirit through Born to Run and this website.  Even my mom was upset and she doesn't run!

I read your book right before I found out I had cancer and was struggling. I found the story of Caballo Blanco to be truely inspiriational. What a guy and what an individual. He is one of a few I would have liked to have met. After surgery I am starting from what seems less than when I started running years ago. But the spirit of Caballo Blanco will keep me going. Thank you for introducing him in your book.

Eric, I am sorry for the loss of your friend.  I have dreamed of one day sharing a trail with Micah for some time after reading the book for like the 10th time.  I will now just run with and embody what he stood  for in my thoughts and his loved ones in my prayers.  He is truly running  free.

I expect Caballo and Pre to get in some excellent runs while together in heaven!

Without Caballo, there wouldn't have been a Born to Run. Without Born to Run, I wouldn't be a runner now. There are many of us out there who owe him a debt of gratitude. Thanks, Caballo.

This news came as a real shock to me. The main character in Born To Run, he really inspired many to take up running just for the love of it.May his soul rest in peace.
