I'm what you guys would call a noob, just started running in May; finished c25K successfully and jumped right into bridge210K; now I'm attempting to tackle a HM training program; it's 12 weeks long…Continue

I did a base build program for 12 week to start running consistently just recently. 20 minute test yielded 2.69 miles. I will do Mile test after Thanksgiving. For six weeks I ran 20 miles wk 5/days a week... Is trying an ultra 18 wks out too soon.. Cool Impossible book phase 1+2 = 22 weeks. Should I start phase 1 week5 ? Or not attempt one so soon? Biggest fear of an ultra is not having enough juice in the tank to finish, and not being able to do anything afterwards for weeks.
Haven't thought about my greatest fear for an Ultra. I would say it would be proper nutrition.
I guess my fears in signing up for a 50K are; getting the miles in to be able to complete it and having to do a lot of those on asphalt, being able to stay focused. I guess to be honest I probably have a lot more doubts than fears. I have completed a half and have another in a couple of weeks and that is the farthest I have gone at one time. I am working to keep the voices in the background until they get tired of talking.
I'm afraid of being along on a mountain by myself in the dark, and being scared that I won't make it, getting lost and also not having any distance running friends that I can count on to crew for me and help me through this type of race
That I will somehow permanently injure myself. That it will be "worth it" given the personal investment, time away from family, etc.
Some of my greatest fears are my age (soon to be 56) and lack of running experience (2.5 years). I really regret starting so late. I have done a couple of 30ks, and will start training for my first 50k at the end of October... the long training runs by myself in the cold and the dark are a bit intimidating...
My "greatest fear I have about running an ultra / my first ultra" - I think I have more than one...
- Will my body cope with it?
- Will I get the fueling right or just crash and burn?
- As ultras often have fewer competitors, will my navigation skills let me down when there are no other runners in sight?
