I did a 12hr Adventure Race this last weekend. It is a multidiscipline race, with a 12 hr maximum time. I finished in just over 7 hrs. It was a goo race; I ran the race I wanted, tried some new things that worked and had fun.
But, the overall winner in my category (solo) and fastest overall time came in under 5 hrs. Very impressive. At first all i could think was how impossible it would be for me to get that time. Where could I have cut 2 hours out of my race? Then I really got to thinking "How can I cut 2 hours out of my race?"
Instead of marveling, I have become motivated. When you see that winner with the amazing time, maybe it should serve to let you think about how to train smarter and harder. think about the nutrition, methods and dedication of my training. Maybe my best race could become so much better. What do you think?
