A mate of mines brother, Michael Hull is competing in the 6633 Ultra.
The 6633 Artic Ultra is a non stop self sufficient foot race of either 120 or 350 miles and Michael is doing the 350 mile event.
Both races cross the line of the Artic Circle with the longer race continuing to the banks of the Artic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk.
Competitors will be expected to carry or pull on sleds all their provisions for the race including food, cooking items, clothing, sleeping and other safety gear. A drop bag is allowed at 120 miles (Fort McPherson), at 230 miles (Inuvik) and at the finish line.
Checkpoints are spaced between 23 and 70 miles apart where competitors will be able to rest and prepare their own food, the only thing guaranteed at the checkpoints is shelter and hot water.
This year there are 4 starters for the 120 mile event which has a time limit of 72 hours and 12 for the 350 mile which has a time limit of 192 hours.
Both events including 2 competitors that competed in this event last year event.
Michael is an outstanding individual, a seasoned competitor having testing his resolve, spirit and mental capacities running ultra's over the world and gives back to his family, friends and community.
I wish him good luck, safe travels and in this latest adventure I wish for him, what he would wish for himself. Gods Speed Michael!
