I'm 40 lbs over weight (started at 70 lbs overweight 3 years ago).

Low Thyroid, while on meds, still don't feel well.

Gluten intolerant.  Only lost the 30lbs I have lost after going off gluten, now stuck again.

Asthma made worse on very humid days or dusty days, and sometimes just because to mess with me.

Heel striker.

Too slow to make cut offs to consider a 50 or 100 miler.

My goals,

Finish the weight loss,

Proper running form and strength training

Make those darn cut offs without red-lining thus ruining the "fun" of the race

I'm up to 40-50 miles per week.

My mileage building is so slow as if I try to do it any faster I get sick or hurt.

I'm wondering if I should start over with the New Runner training program, or just start working from where I am.  I have a very good base built up for a slow runner.

I'm not as sore after a 50K now as I was after my 1st or 2nd half marathon.

I'm not as sore after a 20 mile training run as I was when 8 miles was my long run.

I don't want to lose that base, but I want to get faster.

Should I consider cutting back to 5 and 10K's so I won't be doing endurance events while trying to lose weight?

Would starting over help me get my form down?

Do I need to do anything that extreme?  I'm entered in races through March and will do a local 50K in April and Aug, so I guess that answers that question... but after Aug, or between?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
