Sounds like you're looking for the Karvonen HR Formula?  It takes resting heart rate into account when calculating training / heart rate zones.

Hey thanks Jay.  Had a look at various sites and some athletes have done comparisons on the different methods and this comes as most accurate.  Done the easy bit now for the stress test - 15 minutes will be enough for me.  Regards Alex Rankin Shropshire.
