I have a question concerning cadence when trying to run faster, like during the sprints in Phase 1. Whenever I speed up, my cadence tends to increase from around 180 to above 190-195. Should I try to maintain an 180 cadence ? Any tips on how to achieve this ?
Many thanks.

Hi Carolynn,
I think the idea is speed comes with the longer stride so I'n Eric's book the analogy is stepping over small logs for good form and for me a cadence of ~ 180 and to increase imagine bigger logs so still lift your knee so the foot position is good and you land on the forefoot I think still cadence around the same.

Hi Francis, thanks for your answer. Bigger logs, hum...
I had a sprint session today (Phase 1, W3 day 1) and really focused on this thanks to my Garmin, trying to drill that 180 cadence into my mind. It's really not easy to keep cadence from creeping up !
Hi Carolynn,
The great thing is on every run we learn something about our body and the runner we are on every run. Its hard to focus on everything I agree its a challenge trying though LOL
